Promotion Piggy - Advertising Blimps and Giant Helium Balloons

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I need to advertise my business but would I need permission from anyone to fly a blimp or balloon

The short answer is NO! We give you the full facts, the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) rules and not ridiculous rumour.
Below a maximum flying height of 200 feet (60 meters) no permission is needed, unless you are absolutely next to an airport. You would find that 200 feet is far to high for general advertising and your best height would be less than half that height. So you would nowhere near approach the maximum height.

Are there any restrictions to flying a blimp

You must fly your balloon or blimp at no more than 60 meters in height and not within reach of overhead power lines. It is always best to allow more than enough distance from power cables, as the electric current can jump several feet.

Is it difficult to inflate and launch

If you just follow the very simple instructions that we send you, it is very easy with no experience or extra equipment necessary. Just a few minutes of fun and you will be up and flying!

How far will it be seen

Even a medium sized vessel can be seen for many miles on a clear day or night but your livery will only be legible for a few hundred meters.

What size would I need

We will ask you what your exact requirements are and advise you of your best and most economical options. We would never produce a vessel that is too big or of a shape that is unsuitable for your needs. It is not in our best interests to "oversell" you either. If we think your ideas and expectations are too much we will tell you straight from the outset.

Can it be any shape

Any shape providing it has capacity for enough volume is achievable today, as computers have shifted the old boundaries of production. We will advise you with over 30 years of experience and explain the best options for every individual requirement. We do not generalise. All our customers are individual, with often quite unique requirements.

Can we use our company logo and are we limited to certain colours

Absolutely, we welcome your livery and will always position your logo for the best effect. Our production designers are extremely talented. There are no limits whatsoever with the amount of artwork or choice of colour. We work right to the exact pantone colour codes too, for an exact and thorough reproduction of your artwork livery.

How much helium would we need

Each vessel will require an amount due to its overall size and shape. As an example a 2.5 meter diameter sphere requires 1 cylinder of helium, whereas a large blimp will require two cylinders.

Is helium safe to use

Helium is a perfectly safe to use gas with no detriment to humans, animals or the environment. It is totally non flammable and will not freeze either. It is the second most abundant gas in our universe naturally.

Is the helium included in the price

We will always make you fully aware of the helium cost at the outset of your enquiry and generally quote you including helium. Some customers may have there own helium supplier but we can quote you competitively if you prefer and deliver straight to your venue or business address.

Will it burst easily

No, it cannot burst. All our vessels are made at the finished size, so never under any great internal pressure. Although it is made at the finished size, it will still pack down very small for transport.

How long does a blimp last

This is up to you! If you take care by washing your blimp or balloon now and again it will give you years of good service. If you ever need to store it, just make sure it is dry before packing it away.

Will the weather affect flying the blimp

Yes, the weather will affect the way your blimp or balloon flies but we only supply the correct grade and size of blimp to endure our weather. Unlike others, our blimps are commercial grade and suitable for everyday and continuous use. Rain, hail and snow will not affect these vessels but very strong winds will. If the wind is turning gale-force, then bring the blimp down very low and tie the tether close to the ground until the wind calms.

What is included in the price

Everything you will need; your artwork livery and this is without limitation, any amount in any arrangement of your own exact colours, delivery to your address of the vessel and gas complete with control-lines, fill adapter and hose, service kit and simple instructions.

Are there any extras I would need to buy

None needed! But you could have an inexpensive banner or internal lighting should you wish.

How long does it take to arrive after ordering

Once your guided decision has been made and the order concluded, we will produce a pre-production proof of your vessel's artwork for your consideration and approval. This is so you can see exactly how your blimp or balloon will appear. Your blimp or vessel will then be manufactured, pressure tested and vacuum tested too. When we are happy with the production and only then, we will deliver it to you. Generally two to three weeks and you will be up and running!

Is it expensive

Quality only comes at a price and we really mean that we won't try and compete with other suppliers, as our blimps are by far the best available. We do though constantly watch our pricing as we have to be competitive with other less effective mediums. But none of our products are expensive. In fact, they are by far the most effective advertising and cost effective medium there is.
